Hadassah Reyna Caras, 10, of Viola, had a drowning accident at a Memorial Day picnic then passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Ill. Services are 11 a.m. Sunday, June 6, at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Burial is at Viola Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at the funeral home. A memorial fund is being established at IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union. She was born Sept. 21, 1999, in Rock Island, daughter of Napoleon and Alma Monzon Caras. Hadassah loved being with her friends and family, especially taking care of her brothers. Often, you could find her in the kitchen cooking with her mom. She loved to be outside and enjoyed camping and travelling with her family. Hadassah was an active little girl that loved life. She spent time with her dad learning Tae Kwon-Do and Hapkido. She was a friend to all, even animals. Hadassah aspired to be a veterinarian when she grew up. She showed and rode horses and was training to be a barrel racer. God was No. 1 in her life. She was a member of the First Apostolic Church, Viola, where she enjoyed Sunday school and loved all her classmates. Surviving are her parents, Napoleon and Alma Caras, Viola; three brothers, David, Joseph and Benjamin Caras, all at home; grandmothers, Grace Caras, Milan, and Margarita "Mago" Monzon, Moline; and several aunts, uncles and cousins whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Ernie Caras Sr.
