Genevieve Pollet, 87 formerly of Rock Island, IL and Ardmore, OK died Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Grace Living Center, Bethany, OK where she had resided since December of 2008. Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 17th at Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg, IL. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is handling arrangements. Genevieve Weikert was born August 26, 1921 in Buffalo Prairie, IL to Franklin and Sadie Weikert. She attended Union Country School in the Bay Island District. She later worked at McKee Button Factory in Muscatine, IA. In later years she attended cosmetology school in Davenport, IA. Gen was licensed in both Illinois and Iowa and had her own shop in her home in Rock Island. She retired from hairdressing when she married George Pollet of Ardmore, OK. The couple was married in Las Vegas then moved to Ardmore. After retiring she enjoyed reading, doing cross-stitch needlework, upholstering furniture and working in her yard. Gen had done her own yard work until the past two years. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: JoAnn Hoffman, Burgess, IL; Ronnie Weikert, Florida; Sadie Speck, Keithsburg, IL; Alice Schorr, Kahoka, MO; Caroline York, Plant City, FL; Mary Frances Tittman, Plant City, FL; John Weikert, California; Linda Weikert, Tucson, AZ; Pam Weikert, Marana, AZ; Cathy Stiner, Rock Island, IL; Frank Weikert, Andalusia, IL and Tony Weikert, Arizona and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, three brothers, Floyd, Sam and Joe Weikert and one sister Helen Faulkner.
