Estella Wander Hultgren, 98, of Viola, Illinois died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008 at Aledo Health and Rehab, Aledo, IL. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 13 at Boden Community Church, Boden, IL. Burial will be in Farlow Grove Cemetery, Matherville. Visitation is 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, Sept. 12 at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Memorials may be left for the family to be designated for the perpetual care fund at Farlow Grove Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.dennisonfuneralhome.com. Estella was born December 25, 1909 in Henderson County, Illinois the daughter of John Wesley and Tilda Adeline "Dolly" (Miller) Walters. She married Elmer Carl Hultgren on June 8, 1940 in Aledo, IL. He passed away in February 1988. Mrs. Hultgren was a teacher for 28 years at several area schools then worked as a proofreader at the Argus, all the while working on the farm and in the home. Estella was a member of Boden Community Church, Mercer County Home Extension, Mercer County Retired Teachers, National Education Association, Illinois Education Association, Farm Bureau and the Women's Bowling Association. Her many hobbies included bowling, reading, crossword puzzles and playing bridge. Survivors include her children, Roger and Martha Hultgren, Viola, IL and Darlene and Max Wager, Tucson, AZ; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and sisters, Margaret Campbell and Virginia Ewing both of Seaton, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Pearl and Geneva; and brother, John.
