Ellsworth "Maggie" Magedanz

Ellsworth "Maggie" Junior Magedanz, 88, of Keithsburg, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo. Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Keithsburg First Christian Church, with visitation 11 a.m. to services. Burial is at Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo, is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to the church or Keithsburg Volunteer Fire Department. He was born March 9, 1922, in Foley, Minn., son of Benjamin and Beatrice Mills Magedanz. He married Gertrude Wilson on Nov. 25, 1945, in Chicago. She preceded him in death in 1981. Maggie was a welder at John Deere for 20 years, retiring in 1987. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of Keithsburg First Christian Church. Mr. Magedanz enjoyed woodworking and puttering around the house and lawn. He especially enjoyed visiting; he didn't know a stranger. Surviving are his daughters (spouses), Joyce Scovil, Keithsburg, Linda (Junior) Cameron, Matherville, Bea (Brad) Ryan, Warrenville, Ill.; son, Ellsworth "Maggie" (Debbie) Magedanz, Aledo; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters, Vivian Mitchell and Joyce Magedanz; and brother, Merritt Magedanz.
