Edward Balzer

Edward L. Balzer, 64, of Keithsburg, Illinois died Friday, January 5, 2007 at home. Graveside services are 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Those attending the service should meet in The Mark parking lot at 12:30 p.m. to proceed onto the arsenal. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family for a memorial to be established. Edward was born August 20, 1942 in Davenport, Iowa the son of Cecil L. and Frances Hogan Balzer. He was a certified welder and also worked with horses in Mercer County. Edward served in the Army during the Vietnam Era, working as a carpenter and heavy equipment mechanic. He enjoyed horses and fishing. Mr. Balzer was a member of Disabled Veterans and the American Legion. Survivors include sister and brother-in-law; Mary and John Stewart, Keithsburg, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elizabeth Elliott.
