Dorothy M. Harmon, 98, of New Boston, Illinois died Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Prophetstown, Illinois.
Graveside memorial service is 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21st at Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona, Illinois. Memorials may be left for Beacon of Hope Hospice. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is handling arrangements.
The daughter of Herbert and Mary Strawhacker King, Dorothy Maxine was born July 16, 1919 in the New Boston Bay area. She attended Geneseo schools. On December 2, 1936, she married Harold Hayden in Muscatine, Iowa; they later divorced. She then wed Oscar Harmon on April 18, 1963 in Bishop Hill, Illinois. They were married until his death on June 29, 1970. Dorothy had worked at the Muscatine Button Factory and Maiden Form in Monmouth. She was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting and sewing in her free time.
Survivors include her three grandchildren: Tina, Robert and Leon Vyncke and great granddaughter: Amanda Butterbrodt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Reimer Hayden at age 6, daughter: Janet Harvey, grandson: John Vyncke and sisters: Nina Stineman, Helen Hadley, Fern Trudo, Lily Loudenburg, Betty Hopkins and Esther Daum.
