Doris Lenore Bethell, 92, of Aledo, Illinois died Saturday, November 23, 2013 at St. Francis, Peoria.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30th at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, Nov. 29th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be left for Aledo First Baptist Church or Brookstone of Aledo Activity Dept.
Doris Lenore was born January 5, 1921 in Mercer County, Illinois the daughter of J. Merle and Tessie Marie Taylor Kistler. She married James William Bethell on May 3, 1941 in Aledo. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2010. Mrs. Bethell was more than a homemaker…she was creative, artistic and possessed many talents. Her talents were evident in her sewing, painting, quilting, gardening and refinishing and upholstering of old furniture. She was also active in the Home Bureau, was a longtime member of Aledo First Baptist Church and its Missionary Circle.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Gayle and Joost Pont, Aledo,IL; Jim and Connie Bethell, Woodhull, IL; Michael and Mary Jane Bethell, Batesville, IN and Philip and Linda Bethell, Craig, CO: 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter and brother Earl Kistler.
