Donald L. “Doggie” Davison, 88, of New Boston, Illinois died Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Aledo Rehab and Health Care Center.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 1st, with visitation one hour prior, at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial, with graveside military rites, will be in New Boston Cemetery. Memorials may be left for Aledo Rehab and Health Care Center.
Donald was born February 15, 1925 in Aledo, Illinois a son of Thomas and Norma Summers Davison. He married Georgia Morey on December 5, 1942 in Aledo. She died June 25, 1999. The Davison’s always lived in Mercer County, including the towns of Aledo, Joy and New Boston. In his early years, he was a truck driver. He then worked in the body shop at Henderson’s in Aledo for many years, retiring in 1987. He served in the Army during World War II and was honorably discharged with a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Mercer County V.F.W. Post 1571. Donald was crafty, he enjoyed woodworking, including making truck and semi models, and creating stained glass. He also enjoyed watching birds and feeding squirrels.
Survivors include his children (spouses) George (Virginia) Davison, Milan, IL, Marilyn Faulkner, Joy, IL and Gary (Elaine) Davison, Geneseo, IL; 7 grandchildren (spouses) Tim (Lisa) Davison, Todd (Julie) Davison, Rex Davison, April (Kurt) Davis, Shelli (Don) Edlund, Scott (Marcie) Faulkner and Sam (Angie) Faulkner and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and twin brother at birth.
