Dona Mannon, 72, of Joy, Illinois died Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport, Iowa.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 13 th at New Boston United Methodist Church. Burial will be in New Boston Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday, October 12 th from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be left for Westmer Larger Parish or American Diabetes Association.
Dona was born November 28, 1941 at home, in Drury Township, Rock Island County, the daughter of Marion Alfred and Leona May Parker Plank. She graduated from Joy High School in 1959. On November 3, 1967, she married Neil Mannon in Joy. Dona was a homemaker. After their children were raised, she went to work at the Joy Post Office for 13 years as Postmaster Relief. She was a talented baker, baking and decorating everything from multi-tiered wedding cakes to birthday cakes.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband: Neil Mannon, Joy, IL; children: Ginger (Bill) Murray, Orion, IL and Devin (Robbin) Mannon, Aledo; 5 grandchildren: Angie Belshause, Jenna Marlow, Hollie Thomsen, Valerie Walker and Brittany Dowd; 6 great grandchildren and sister: Lila Hepker, Atalissa, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Tom and Richard Plank, sister: Sarah Jamison and an infant sister.
