BIG LAKE, Alaska - David Brian Cook, 50, of Big Lake, Alaska, died April 16, 2020.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Viola Cemetery with graveside military rites by Aledo American Legion. Family will be allowed at the immediate gravesite…others may attend but must practice all social distancing guidelines. Dennison Funeral Home, Viola is handling arrangements.
He was the son of Lloyd and Rosemary Cook of Viola, Illinois. David was born Sept. 19, 1969, in Moline, Illinois. He was a graduate of Alexis High School, Alexis, Illinois, in 1987. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. After leaving the Air Force, David worked with his wife, JoAnn, plowing snow. He then worked for Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, and was still employed there. He was a very talented carpenter and built his own cabin, shed and out buildings at his home in Big Lake. He was also an accomplished mechanic and enjoyed tinkering with old Fords. He loved the weather in Alaska and was an avid snow machiner, hunter and fisherman.
David is survived by his parents, Lloyd and Rosemary; his sister, Sherry Hollis (Jim); and his brother, Jeff Cook (Heidi). He is also survived by Sherry's sons, Patrick (Emily) and Christopher (Emma); and Jeff's daughters, Jenifer Petersen (Chad) and Cynthia Cook (Jon). These nieces and nephews gave him two great-nephews and six great-nieces. Also surviving David is his first wife, JoAnn Cook; and current wife, Tammy Hyser.
David loved to share his Alaska home with any and all. David also loved and was very proud of his dogs like they were his children: Thor, Pepper and recently deceased Tanner.
