David Bruning

David L. Bruning, 59, of Matherville, Illinois died peacefully in his home on June 2, 2013.

Funeral Services will be at be Dennison Funeral Home in Viola, IL on Wednesday, June 5  at 10:30 am  with visitation  on Tuesday, June 4 from 5 to 8 pm.  Burial will be at Farlow Grove Cemetery,  Matherville.

Dave entered the world as a surprise on November 6, 1953.  He was the second baby of an unexpected twin birth at Mercer County Hospital, son of Dorothy (Anderson) and Robert  “Dutch” Bruning.

He married Lori Roesner on October 1, 1977.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife Lori, daughter, Katie (Chad Hill) Bruning of Joy, IL, sons, Matt (Amber) Bruning of Aledo, IL and Andrew (Mattie Gelaude) Bruning of Matherville.  His beloved grandchildren are Mason, Josie, Kit, and Hunter.

His siblings are Ron (Judy) Bruning of Tinley Park, IL; Rosemary (Bernie) Tholl  of Lapeer, MI;  Kathy (Denny) Reible, Reedsburg,WI; twin sister Debbie Bruning, Aledo, IL;  Scott (Barb Holzhuter) Bruning of Stoughton, WI, and John (Mary) Bruning of Fairfield, IA.

His in-laws are Mary Bjorling of Altona,  Stan (Sue) Roesner of Geneseo,  Julie (Mike) Fowler of Illinois City, Holly (Dave) Carlson of Matherville, MaryKae (Mike) Cameron  of Altona.
He is remembered by a host of special nieces and nephews and considered it a privilege to be one of the “Anderson Kids”.

Dave was employed many years at Eriksen Chevrolet and the last eight years at Mercer County Nursing Home where he found meaning caring for the needs and safety of the residents as the maintenance man.  He was an active member of the Viola United Methodist Church and was a trustee. He enjoyed fishing, a good joke, and willingly supported his children in any activity they pursued. The Civil War era and Lincoln history were his special interests. He was well loved.
