Graveside funeral services for Darlene "Dolly" Frye, 90, of East Moline, formerly of Matherville, will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at the Preemption Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Memorials may be made to the Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline.
Darlene "Dolly" Frye died on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at 8:15 p.m. at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline.
She was born on Aug. 28, 1923, in Geneseo, the daughter of Elbert and Cassie Goembel Douglas. She married Bernal "Tude" Frye in January 1945. He preceded her in death.
She was the custodian at Preemption United Methodist Church for many years. She loved birds and enjoyed feeding them.
Survivors include her children, Howard Frye, Matherville, Susan Smith, Gary (Nancy) Frye and Danny (Jolane) Frye, all of Jacksonville, Ill., Jyla (Bill) Vipond, Milan, and Tammy Matthews, Monmouth; stepchildren, Sharon Clark, New Mexico, and Lonn Frye, Chicago; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Barbara Bell and Pearl Young, both of Geneseo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step son Jerry, four brothers, three sisters and a great-grandson.
The family of Darlene thanks the staff of Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline for the wonderful care and attention they gave Darlene.
