Daniel McLaughlin

Daniel D. McLaughlin, 26, of Sherrard, died Saturday, May 29, 2010, as a result of an automobile accident near Sherrard. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Burial is at Cable Cemetery, Cable. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mercer County 4-H. He was born Nov. 23, 1983, in Rock Island, son of Donald and Kirby Daugherty McLaughlin. Dan was a 2002 graduate of Sherrard High School. He was a journeyman carpenter, recently working for GCI out of the local carpenters union. Dan was an avid Cubs and Bears fan and recently started to enjoy hockey. He loved to fish and hunt. He was a lifetime member of the National Hunting and Fishing Club. Over the years, Dan worked for several stock contractors as a bullfighter on the weekends. Surviving are his parents, Donald and Kirby McLaughlin, Sherrard; sister and brother-in-law, Chris and Shawn Harkey, Sherrard; brothers and sister-in-law, Douglas and Darci McLaughlin, Sherrard, and Jason Gibson, Lake Station, Ind.; two nieces; two nephews; grandmother, Marjorie McLaughlin, Fort Myers Beach, Fla.,; and special friend, Stephanie McNall and her son Peyton, Aledo. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lois and Sam Daugherty and Delvin McLaughlin.
