Clair Olson

Clair W. Olson, 79, of Aledo, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at the VA Medical Center, Iowa City, Iowa. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Services will be at a later date. He can be remembered by giving a memorial to Mercer County VFW Post 1571, Aledo. He was born July 20, 1926, in Millersburg Township, Ill., the son of Peter William and Minnie Angeline Moses Olson. He married Marjorie Evans Oct. 8, 1946, in Hillsdale. He served in the Navy during World War II. He farmed in the Mercer County area. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, and was a member of the Mercer County VFW Post 1571, Aledo. Survivors (and spouses) are his wife, Marjorie Olson, Aledo; sons, Samuel (Wanda) Olson, Joy, and Stephen (Randy) Olson, Aledo; four grandchildren, Richard (Corina) Olson, Scott (Denise) Olson, Jennifer (Ron) Maas, and Jon Olson; stepgrandson, Chad Watson; five great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; sister, Eileen Wolfe, Geneseo; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, two brothers and two sisters.
