Cecil A. Cavanah, 94, of Aledo, Illinois died Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo. Visitation will be Friday, June 8 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorial services will be Saturday, June 9 at 10:30 AM at College Avenue Presbyterian Church, Aledo. Inurnment will be in Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be left for the College Avenue Presbyterian Church. Cecil Allan Cavanah was born January 26, 1913 in Muscle Fork Township, Chariton County, Missouri, the son of Cyrus Arch and Mary Myrtle McAdam Cavanah. He married Ella Mae Rice on December 24, 1935 in Marceline, Missouri. Cecil was a barber, owning and operating Cavanah's Style Salon in Aledo from 1945 until 1989. He was a member of College Avenue Presbyterian Church, where he was a past session member and trustee. He has been a member and past president of the Aledo Kiwanis Club; past Master and secretary for 27 years of the Aledo Masonic Lodge #252 A.F. & A.M.; and member of the Aledo School Board at the time it became Unit District #201. He also served as Supervisor of Mercer Township for 12 years. In retirement, Mr. Cavanah enjoyed growing roses and playing golf, posting a hole-in-one at age 83 at Hawthorn Ridge Golf Course, Aledo. Survivors include two daughters; Karen C. Hollen, Ann Arbor, MI and Harriet C. Dart, Deerfield, IL and a son, Jack A. Cavanah, Granger, IA; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren and two brothers; James Cavanah, Aledo, and Lloyd Cavanah, Columbia, MO. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae, and a brother, Ben Cavanah.
