Catherine Johnson

Catherine Johnson, 93, of North Henderson, Illinois died at 11:43 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 30 ^th at Calvary Lutheran Church, New Windsor.  The Rev. Mark Laatsch will officiate.  Burial will be in Calvary Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation is Thursday, May 29 ^th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, New Windsor.  Memorials may be made toward an educational fund for Isabella Viager, who was the joy of her life.

She was born in Chambersburg, Illinois the daughter of George and Ellen Reed Bloomfield with 2 sisters and 11 brothers.  She met and then married Henry Johnson on November 25, 1939.  He preceded her in death on May 19, 1998.  Catherine was a 64 year member of the Everbusy Club, North Henderson.  She enjoyed being a farm housewife all of her married life and was a wonderful cook for family and friends.  She enjoyed sewing, making crafts, cleaning, reading and puzzles.  She was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church and Fern Leaf Society.

Surviving is her daughter, Marjorie Shunick, Galesburg, Illinois; granddaughter, Lorena Hughes; great grandchildren, Jasmine Hughes and Brandon Viager; great great granddaughter, Isabella Viager and brothers, Alvin Bloomfield, Pennsylvania and Robert Bloomfield, North Henderson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 11 siblings.
