Caroll Herbert Gullickson age 78 of Keithsburg Illinois died Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center West Campus, Rock Island. Memorial services are Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo with visitation from 10:00 - 12:00. Private burial will be at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery with graveside military rites. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Keithsburg Fire Department or Pathway Hospice. Caroll was born February 16, 1930 in Des Moines, Iowa. His parents were Caroll and Anne Stoll Gullickson. After graduating from High School he enlisted in the Navy where he served as a Quartermaster from 1948-1952. Caroll graduated from telegraphy school in Marshalltown, Iowa, then became an agent-telegrapher for the former M & St. L and Chicago Northwestern railway, serving many depots in Iowa and Illinois. Caroll was the agent in Keithsburg until the railroad ceased service to the area. He was employed at several businesses in Keithsburg, the most recent Shissler Farms. Caroll married the former Norma Morley on June 12, 1954 in Forest City, Iowa. Mr. Gullickson was a member of the Forest Lutheran Church, Forest City, Iowa and the Aledo American Legion Fallerans Post 121. He enjoyed cat fishing on the Mississippi, following local high school sports, the Iowa Hawkeyes, the New York Yankees, and especially visiting his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Norma, Keithsburg; daughters, Teresa (Darrell) Campbell, Murfreesboro, TN, Elizabeth (David) McKee, Sycamore, IL, Jean Heid, Murfreesboro, TN and Gail Palmer, Webster Groves, MO; grandchildren, Phillip (Tara), Matthew and Daniel Campbell, Jenna Heid, Katlin Palmer and Andrew Gullickson; sister-in-law, Leanna (Don) Hendrickson, St. Ansgar, IA and helpful neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
