Carol Dawson

Carol Dawson, 81, of New Boston, Illinois died Friday, December 24, 2021 at home.

Cremation has been accorded.  She will be laid to rest with her husband at Rock Island National Cemetery.  Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is assisting the family.

Carol Ann was born August 2, 1940 in Aledo, Illinois the daughter of Paul E. and Esther C. Stevens Grizzle.  She graduated from Joy High School in 1958.  On September 2, 1962 she married Dennis G. Dawson at the United Methodist Church, Joy.  Carol graduated as a Registered Nurse from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, Peoria in 1961.  She worked at Highview Nursing Home, Peoria for 10 years, then St. Francis Hospital, Peoria for 20 years.  Carol loved crafting needlework – knitting, crocheting and cross-stitch… more recently she had taken up painting.

Survivors are her children:  Sheryl (Jeff) Cusey of Deland, Florida and Chris (Ivy) Dawson of Deltona, Florida; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and siblings:  Gary Grizzle of New Boston, Illinois, Mary Watters of Port Angeles, Washington, Linda (Barre) Fields of Port Angeles, Washington, and Robert Grizzle of Hampton, Illinois, as well as her loving puppy, Buddy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers:  Lee and Jim.
