Brian Sloan

Brian R. Sloan, 55, of New Boston, Illinois died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at his home. Memorial services are Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 6:00 p.m., with visitation 2 hours prior, at New Boston United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left for his children's college funds or New Boston Fire/Ambulance. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is handling arrangements. Brian was born January 29, 1956 in Aledo, Illinois a son of E. Reed and Ruth Ann (Carlson) Sloan. In high school he was a standout athlete, playing basketball and running track and cross country. He held several cross country records. The 1974 Westmer High School graduate was also always on the honor roll. After high school, Brian received a degree from Western Illinois University. In April of 1986 he married Anita Beck, they later divorced. Brian was a farmer. He retired from Heinz, Muscatine after working there 10 years. Brian had also worked for the family business at their produce market. He enjoyed nature and was always current on world events. He was a member of the New Boston United Methodist Church. Survivors include his daughters, Shenae Margaret Sedam, Edgington, IL, Shannon Briana Boynton, Aledo, IL and Hannah Lynn Lorah, New Boston, IL; sister, Rita (Mark) Phillipson, Biggsville, IL and brothers, Murry Sloan, New Boston, IL and Bret Sloan, Kewanee, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kelly Sue Sloan.
