Brian Long

Brian W. Long, 62, of Kewanee, Illinois passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.

Visitation will be at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo on Monday, July 17^th from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2:30 p.m.  Burial will be in New Boston Cemetery.  Memorials may be left for FurEver Friends of Mercer County.

Brian Wesley was born July 14, 1960 in Aledo, Illinois the son of Wesley “Bud” Jr. and Frances M. “Peggy” Carver Long.  The 1978 graduate of Westmer High School went on to work out of the Laborers Union and at the Exelon Power Plant in Cordova.  He also worked as a commercial fisherman along side his dad and grandpa.  On August 16, 2011 he married Stella Davis in Kewanee.  For many years, Brian was a Boy Scout leader.  He was a true outdoorsman;  spending countless hours fishing, hunting, and trapping and loved to spend time at his trailer in New Boston.

Survivors include his wife:  Stella Long; children:  Heather (Stephen) McDade, Scott Long, and Matthew Long; step-children:  Paul Lippens, Brian Lippens, and Kelli DeSplinter; grandchildren:  Katelynn, Mackenzie, and Hannah; step-grandchildren:  Macey, Wyatt, Noah, Carter, Shelby, and Lia…his little candy eatin’ friend; siblings:  Julie (Mark) Bacon and Paul (Trisha) Long; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents:  Bud Long and Peggy Phillips.
