Brian M. Hall, 62, of New Windsor, died at home on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, surrounded by his family. Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Aledo. Burial is at St. John Catholic Cemetery, Viola. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola, with rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left for the family's wishes. He was born May 26, 1947, in Moline to Eric B. and Elizabeth "Betty" Steinhauser Hall. He married Catherine "Katie" Cornelis on June 6, 1970, in Moline. Brian graduated from Alleman High School in 1965. He then graduated from Black Hawk College, Moline, and Stout State University, Menomonie, Wis. Mr. Hall was an industrial arts and woodworking teacher. He began teaching at Sudlow Junior High, Davenport, for four years.While teaching at AlWood High School, Woodhull, for 19 years, he also was a football and track coach.He finished his teaching career at ROWVA High School, Oneida, after 14 years, retiring in May 2007.During 10 years of his teaching career, he taught a night class for Carl Sandburg College, Galesburg. His many hobbies included fishing (especially for walleye), motorcycles and deer hunting with his sons. He was a Chicago Cubs fan and an avid Chicago Bears fan.His special gift was woodworking; he made beautiful furniture. Bumpa Brian dearly loved his grandkids. He was an active member of St. Catherine's, Aledo ,and St. John's, Viola, Catholic churches. Survivors include his wife, Katie Hall, New Windsor; sons, Josh Hall and Zac Hall, both of New Windsor; three grandchildren, Lainee, Eric and Logan Hall, Batavia, Ohio; mother, Betty Hall, Coal Valley; sisters (spouses), Sharon (Jim) Goode, New Windsor, Deb (John) Cornelis, Moline, and Melinda (Mike) Timm, Moline; and a brother (spouse), Ross (Margo) Hall, Coal Valley. He was preceded in death by his father.
