Bobby D. Luker, 66, of Viola, died Sunday, June 15, 2008, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Burial is at Viola Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Mercer County V.F.W. Post 1571. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Memorials may be made to the family. He was born Sept. 16, 1941, in Edgington, to John B. and Icle Collins Luker. He married Ute Becker on Feb. 3, 1966, in Zweibrucken, Germany. Bobby worked as a machine operator at Midwest Fibre, Viola, for 20 years. Mr. Luker served in the Army from 1961 to 1967, his last year of service being in Vietnam. His many hobbies included camping, fishing, bowling and building model cars. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. Bobby had been a member of the Rock Island Moose Lodge No. 190. Survivors (and their spouses) include his wife, Ute Luker, Viola; daughters, Petra Luker, Viola, and Caroline Luker (Kevin Goben), Sherrard; sons, W. Bobby (Theresa) Luker, San Diego, Calif., and James (Michele) Luker, Viola; five grandchildren, Nathan, Zack, Amber, Jared and Kane Luker; brother, Karry (Sally) Luker, Alpha; sister-in-law, Roberta Luker, Seaton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Hollis and Donald; and a nephew, Michael.
