Billie Dawn Adams

Billie Dawn Adams, 80, died Monday, June 4, 2018 at her home in Matherville, Illinois.

Visitation is Friday, June 8th from 4:30 – 8:00 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola.  Recitation of the Rosary will be prior to visitation, beginning at 4:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 9th at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Matherville.  Burial will be in Farlow Grove Cemetery, Matherville.  Following the graveside service, Billie’s friends are invited to stop by her house to help her husband and family celebrate her life.  Memorials may be left for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Royal Ball Run for Autism.

Billie was born December 27, 1937 in Matherville a daughter of Bill and Maudie Hartman Taylor.   Billie earned both her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Teaching Degree from Western Illinois University.  She started the Kindergarten and Pre-School programs in Matherville, both were later adopted by the school system. On October 8, 1977, she married Larry Adams at the Beulah Church, rural Orion.  Every summer Billie Dawn’s pool and home were open to the children in the community.  She was a prominent figure in Matherville, who touched many lives over several generations.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 40 years, Larry Adams; children:  Stephanie Surr, David (Nancy) Surr and Darin (Lynn) Surr; grandchildren:  Taylor (Katelan), Zach (Rabekah), Josh (Sarah), Cortney and Mackenzie (Kyle); 10 great grandchildren; brother:  Steve (Mary) Taylor; sister:  Sandy Lindley and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Billie died the way she lived…on her own terms, in her beautiful pool.
