Beverly Pearson

Beverly Jean Pearson, 80, of Matherville, Illinois was surrounded by family when she passed away at home on Saturday, May 8, 2021.

Per Bev’s wishes, a Celebration of Life Potluck will be held at Matherville Fire Department on Sunday, May 23rd at 2:00 p.m.   Family and friends are asked to bring a dish to share (pulled pork will be provided) as everyone gathers to remember Bev and Dave.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left for Matherville Fire Department or Beacon of Hope Hospice.  A private interment will be held at a later date in Edgington Cemetery.   Dennison Funeral Home, Viola assisted the family.

Beverly Jean was born July 24, 1940 in Springfield, Illinois the daughter of Harold and Esther Scott Bell.  Bev graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  While at Illinois State, Bev met David Pearson, the couple married on June 16, 1962.  They were married for 58 years until Dave passed away less than a month ago on April 18, 2021.  Mrs. Pearson spent most of her teaching career with the Sherrard School District, teaching mostly at Matherville Grade School.  She retired in 2002 after 30+ years.  She was a member of Sherrard Education Association, Matherville Community Club, volunteered and served on the board of Sherrard Community Library and Mercer County Schools Credit Union.  Bev enjoyed quilting and playing bingo as well as basket weaving, music and reading.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children:  Lyle (Dawn) Pearson of Matherville, John (Lorene) Pearson of Milan and Natalie (Michael) Howdeshell of Argyle, Texas; grandchildren: Lyle, Kayla, Jeffery, Stephen, Andrew, Emily, Crystal, Katherine and Janeé; 5 great grandchildren and siblings:  Vicki (John) Wakefield and Timothy J. (Kathy) Bell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jack Bell and husband.
