Betty Farwell

Betty L. Farwell, 91, of Viola, Illinois died Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Richard Owens Hospice Home, Peoria.

Funeral services are Saturday, Dec. 30th at 12:00 p.m. (noon) with visitation 1 hour prior at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola.  Burial will be in Viola Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers are Phillip Bigger, Austin Bigger, Evan Farwell, Lonnie Farwell, Wayne Morgan and Ian Markham.  Memorials may be left for Viola United Presbyterian Church or a charity of choice.

Betty was born March 19, 1926 in Barry, Illinois, a daughter of George and Doris McMullen Kropp.  She married Orville Wayne Farwell on August 23, 1946 in Rock Island.  They were married until his death on July 24, 1987.  Betty last worked for Aledo Hospital Home Health Care.  She was a member of Viola United Presbyterian Church, Viola American Legion, where she served as President for many years and was an active member of the Viola Senior Center.  Betty enjoyed crafts and watching television; she loved playing cards and was in several card clubs.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children:  Gary (Jo) Farwell, Whittier, CA, Audrey Farwell, Springfield, IL, Susan (Jeff) Bigger, Biggsville, IL, Richard (Cindy) Farwell, Bettendorf, IA and Sandra Peterson, Moline, IL, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter:  Mary Ann Farwell, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
