Bertha L. Finch, 81, of Keithsburg, Illinois died Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Genesis Senior Living – Aledo.  Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 17th at First Christian Church, Keithsburg.  Burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg.  Visitaiton is Thursday, April 16 th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the church.  Memorials may be left for Keithsburg First Christian Church, Hospice Compassus or Genesis Senior Living – Aledo.  Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is assisting the family.

Bertha Louise Ortery was born September 28, 1933 in Keithsburg, a daughter of George W. and Gladys O. Ishmael Ortery.  On December 17, 1950, she married Albert M. Finch in Keithsburg. He died April 19, 2009.  Albert and Bertha had owned/operated A & B Café in Keithsburg.  She later cooked for various restaurants in the area.  She was a member of Red Hat Society, Keithsburg 500 Card Club and was an active member of Keithsburg First Christian Church.  Bertha enjoyed reading, doing crosswords and being known as the “un-official” historian of Keithsburg.  Her greatest joy was her family and loved it when she was surrounded by them.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters:  Cindy Brock, Keithsburg, Pam (Barry) Heath, Keithsburg, Edith (Randy) Malcom, Keithsburg and Mary Ebert, Stronghurst; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren;  nephew:  Fred Allen Ortery and special friends:  Don and Ellie Finch and Melvin Robbins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great granddaughter Alex Heath, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
