Bernice Carver

Bernice C. Carver, 88, of New Boston, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at New Boston Cemetery. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be made to the family. She was born March 3, 1921, in Brandon, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Clara Montgomery Hollins. She married Ray Carver Oct. 15, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death in March 1998. Over the years, Mrs. Carver was a nurse's aide at the hospital and various nursing homes in Aledo. Bernice loved flowers and even ran a greenhouse in New Boston. She also enjoyed crafts. Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Miller, New Boston; sons, Ralph Carver, Holts Summit, Mo., and Wendell Carver, Moline; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Frances; and brothers, Raymond, Ralph, Richard and Roy.
