Berneice Johnson

Berneice Johnson, 81, of Sherrard, Illinois died Saturday, April 19, 2014 at River Crossing Rehab, Galesburg.

Graveside services are 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24 ^th at Viola Cemetery.  Visitation will also be on Thursday from 11:00 am– Noon at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola.  Memorials may be left for the family or Cable Community Church.

Berneice, and her twin sister Bernice, were born Feb. 3, 1933 in Sherrard, daughters of Dallas and Leona Hurstrom McMeekan.  In November of 1950 she married Neil Johnson in Aledo.  He died July 6, 2001.  Berneice was a homemaker.  She loved flowers and collecting stuffed animals.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons; Kenneth Johnson, Bettendorf, IA, Ron Johnson, Sherrard, IL, Lorin Johnson, Florence, TX and Derald Johnson, Temple, TX; daughters, Bonnie Johnson, Florence, TX, Carolyn Matheny, Belton, TX, Dinah Callahan, Davenport, IA and Donna Ingold, Milwaukee, WI; numerous grandchildren; brothers, Franklin (Janet) McMeekan, Moline, IL, Larry (Judy) McMeekan, Sherrard, IL and DeWayne (Sandy) McMeekan, Viola, IL and sister, Lois (Donald) Hemm, Moline, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son – Jerry, daughters – Shirley and Loretta, brothers – Lyle, Robert and Melvin and twin sister Bernice.
