Anna Ilene Docherty, 95, of Boden, Illinois passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Genesis Senior Living. Aledo.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27th at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Burial will be in Preemption Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday, Oct. 26th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Memorials may be left for Boden Community Church or Mercer County Relay for Life.
Ilene was born August 25, 1921 in Warren County, Illinois a daughter of Alfred and Myrtle Smith. In 1937, at age 16, she graduated from Viola High School. She married Thomas C. Docherty on February 3, 1940 in Viola. They were married until his death on August 17, 1998. She and her husband farmed their whole lives in the Boden area. Ilene was devoted to her family, especially enjoying time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star and Boden Community Church, where she was active with Ladies Aide.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Joseph (Jackie) Docherty, Aledo, IL, Kathleen (Guy) DiCiaula, Bloomington, IL; daughter-in-law: Yong Docherty, Swansea, IL; 5 grandchildren: Matthew Docherty, Amanda Krug, Timothy Docherty, Jacob DiCiaula and Daniel DiCiaula; 7 great grandchildren: Anthony DiCiaula, Alex and Eric Kessler, Walker, Anna and Ethan Krug and Thomas Docherty; brother: Donovan (Lois) Smith, Rockville, MD and many special nephews and nieces, including Sue Duffy and Carole Waller.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Thomas Keith Docherty and sisters: Alice Cooper and Eunice Hecht.
