Adnan Boutros, 73, of Iowa City, IA formerly of AL-Rabbas/Tartous, Syria died Monday, February 06, 2012 at University of Iowa Hospital. Graveside services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2012 at New Boston Cemetery, New Boston, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left for University of Iowa Holden Cancer Center. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is handling arrangements. Adnan was born May 5, 1938 in AL-Rabbas, Syria a son of Wadee Boutros and Marta Gourgus. He was a member of the Maronite Catholic Church in Syria. In 1956, he married Gorget Samaan. He taught high school math in Syria then later was an accountant in Kuwait. He and his wife enjoyed farming, caring for the trees in their orchard. Upon retiring from farming, he moved to the United States. He had a passion for reading and learning the English language. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, daughter, Najah (Issa) Boutros, Homs, Syria, sons, Dr. Nezar Boutros, Kafroun, Syria and Dr. Rami (Kristen Nelson-Boutros) Boutros, Iowa City, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, Sahar, Sibel, Taven, Laken and Lilien; brothers, Hanna, Hamid, Mikhael and sisters, Kerjia and Victoria. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 1 sister.
