About Us

Our History

Over the years our homes have been owned and operated by different families.

Beginning in the 1950's, Leo Crummy operated Crummy Funeral Homes in Viola, New Windsor and Reynolds.

Meanwhile, in the 1980's, Lew Jinks purchased the Olin Funeral Homes in Joy, Keithsburg and New Boston. He later opened a home in Aledo.

Mr. Jinks then purchased the Crummy Funeral Homes. All the homes became known as Jinks Funeral Homes of Mercer County. In the 1990's, Mr. Jinks retired and his son-in-law took over the homes, known as Family Funeral Services.

Before retirement, Mr. Jinks, allowed a high school student to assist at visitations and funerals. After working for the homes from part-time in high school, to becoming a licensed funeral director/embalmer in 1993, then for the years to follow, Jill Dennison was able to purchase the Aledo and Viola funeral homes.

Dennison Funeral Homes were established in November 2002.

We continue to carry on the caring and compassion of our predecessors.
